LSBF Round 5: Medellin lose to Indeportes in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Very significant was Indeportes' (#1, 5-0) victory against 4th placed Medellin (2-3) 93-46. Indeportes dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Medellin's 24. They outrebounded Medellin 48-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. American forward Nicole Heyn (180-1999, college: Valdosta St.) stepped up and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Gabriela Chivata (165-2002) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Forward Karen Castano (174-2004) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Indeportes (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Medellin at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost.
The game in Soacha was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Power (4-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Soacha (1-5). Power managed to secure a 7-point victory 53-46. The former international power forward Tania Valencia (177-1994) nailed 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Carolayn Aguirre accounted for 10 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Laura Ayala (173-2001) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds for Soacha in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power maintains second place with 4-2 record behind leader Indeportes, which they share with Hormigas ILBS. Soacha at the other side stay at the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with Cundinamarca.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 5: Cundinamarca lost to Hormigas ILBS on the opponent's court 53-58. Power managed to outperform Cundinamarca in a home game 56-51. Bottom-ranked Soacha recorded a loss to Hormigas ILBS on the road 56-50.

Soacha - Power 46-53

The former international power forward Tania Valencia (177-1994) nailed 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Carolayn Aguirre (-1999) accounted for 10 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Laura Ayala (173-2001) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Angela Ibanez added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Soacha in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power maintains second place with 4-2 record behind leader Indeportes, which they share with Hormigas ILBS. Soacha at the other side stay at the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with Cundinamarca.

Hormigas ILBS - Cundinamarca 58-53

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Cundinamarca (1-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Hormigas ILBS (4-2) 58-53. Hormigas ILBS forced 20 Cundinamarca turnovers. Strangely Cundinamarca outrebounded Hormigas ILBS 58-34 including a 40-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Michelle Pardo nailed 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and guard Laura Acosta (-1999) accounted for 16 points. Forward Stephany Mayo (-1993) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Givanna Padilla (-1996) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Cundinamarca in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Power. Cundinamarca lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Soacha.

Paula Charry (-1997) nailed 8 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and guard Laura Acosta (-1999) accounted for 20 points. Forward Laura Ayala (173-2001) came up with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Carolina Giraldo (-1993) added 5 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Soacha in the defeat. Soacha's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Power. Soacha at the other side stay at the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with Cundinamarca.
