LSBF Round 6: Cundinamarca beat Medellin by one after a very close game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most exciting game of round 6 in the LSBF took place in Medellin. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Medellin (2-5) to fifth ranked Cundinamarca (2-5) 66-65 in the game for the fourth place. Cundinamarca dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Medellin's 32. They outrebounded Medellin 49-33 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Stephany Mayo (-1993) who saved her team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Leidy Montano (173-2004) contributed with 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Cundinamarca's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Manuela Sachica (-2000) replied with 28 points and 5 rebounds for Medellin. Cundinamarca moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Medellin. Medellin lost third consecutive game.
An interesting game for Power (5-2) which hosted in Manizales 4th ranked Medellin (2-5). Second ranked Power managed to get a 4-point victory 66-62. The former international power forward Tania Valencia (177-1994) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Maria Zamora chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Carolina Lopez (188-1998) with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Power have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Indeportes. Medellin lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Cundinamarca.
An interesting game for Indeportes (7-0) which played road game in against 3rd ranked Hormigas ILBS (4-3). Top-ranked Indeportes had an easy win 72-50. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hormigas ILBS. Jenifer Munoz notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 13 points and 9 rebounds by Paula Charry did not help to save the game for Hormigas ILBS. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Indeportes have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Defending champion Hormigas ILBS keeps the third place with three games lost.

In the last game of round 6 bottom-ranked Soacha lost to undefeated Indeportes on the road 43-73.

No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Indeportes (7-0) crushed bottom-ranked Soacha (1-6) in Antioquia 73-43 on Saturday. Indeportes outrebounded Soacha 60-31 including a 24-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Yuliany Paz (195-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Manuela Rios (165-1997) supported her with 15 points and 4 assists. Even 6 points and 5 rebounds by forward Laura Ayala (173-2001) did not help to save the game for Soacha. Forward Daniela Galindo (-2001) added 6 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Indeportes have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Soacha lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with six games lost.
