Valentina Molina (F-1997) had an amazing evening in the last round for Bogota and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 25-year old forward had the game-high 9 points adding eight rebounds and four assists for Bogota in her team's victory, helping them to beat Soacha (#6, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 52-47. Bogota is placed at 4th position in Colombian LSBF. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Bogota won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Molina just recently signed at Bogota, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Valentina Molina averages this season 4.4ppg and 5.1rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international power forward Tania Valencia (177-F/C-1994) of Caldas. Valencia impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Caldas lost that game 43-67 to Southwest's leader Indeportes (#1, 5-0). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Southwest. Caldas still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Valencia is one of the most experienced players at Caldas and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.0ppg (#6). She also registered 7.7 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Lizeth Cuadros (F-1995) of Raptors (#3). Cuadros scored 15 points. Despite Cuadros' great performance Raptors lost 49-69 to #1 ranked Indeportes. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Raptors ranking at the top of Southwest, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Cuadros could help Raptors to bring them higher in the standings. Cuadros has a great season in Colombia. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 3.4apg (3rd best).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Mederith Venner) of Caqueta - 13 points and 9 rebounds
5. Yuliany Paz (195-F-2000) of Indeportes - 10 points and 12 rebounds
6. Lady Quiroga (F-2001) of Cundinamarca - 21 points and 11 rebounds
7. Diana Prens (170-F-1995) of Raptors - 7 points and 13 rebounds
8. Angela Ibanez) of Bogota - 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Wendy Coy (178-F/C-1998) of Guerreros - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Valentina Lopez (1994) of Caldas - 10 points and 10 rebounds
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
