Luna-Castro's double-double lands her (Second Stage) Player of the Week award- June 20, 2023
She had a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds, while her team beat Cundinamarca (#4, 0-3), Second Stage bottom-ranked team 57-48. Hormigas ILBS maintains the 3rd position in their group in Colombian LSBF. Hormigas ILBS is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 2nd lost game this season out of 3 games. Luna-Castro just recently signed at Hormigas ILBS, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Jacqueline Luna-Castro averages just after three games 19.3ppg and 10.3rpg. Second best performed player last round was Stephany Mayo (180-F/C-1993) of Group E second-ranked Bucaros. She is a forward in her first season at Bucaros. In the last game Mayo recorded impressive double-double of 13 points and 21 rebounds. Bad luck as Bucaros lost that game 51-57 to Caldas (2-1). The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Mayo is one of the most experienced players at Bucaros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to forward Yuliany Paz (195-F-2000) of league's leader Indeportes. Paz scored 16 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Indeportes, leading her team to a 54-50 win against #2 ranked Guerreros in a game of the week. Indeportes started extremely well this Second Stage. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game in Group D. Paz turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. Paz has a great season in Colombia. After 11 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.7rpg (3rd best). She also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 53.4%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Silvia Suarez (174-PG-2004) of Hormigas ILBS - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Tania Valencia (177-F/C-1994) of Caldas - 14 points and 9 rebounds 6. Ana Ospina (F-2005) of Raptors - 14 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Valentina Lopez (1994) of Caldas - 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Lady Quiroga (F-2001) of Cundinamarca - 12 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Laura Martinez (F-1994) of Raptors - 18 points and 5 rebounds 10. Yaneth Arias (188-C-1982) of Bucaros - 13 points and 4 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
