Caribbean Storm Islands (Liga Wplay) strengthened their roster with addition of 32-year old Colombian-Venezuelan international 196cm power forward Luis Almanza. It is actually his comeback to Storm as he has played here before. Almanza played this summer at Cafeteros in Colombian Liga Wplay. In 10 games just recently he recorded 7.4ppg and 5.6rpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Almanza also played for Brillantes in Venezuelan SPB where in three games he averaged 7.0ppg and 4.3rpg. The other team he played that season for was Heroes in Venezuelan SPB. In 30 games he had 11.9ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.2apg.
He also represented Colombia at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla (Colombia) five years ago. Almanza's team won Silver and his stats at that event were 3 games: 6.7ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.0spg, FGP: 53.3%.
Almanza has played also professionally in Dominican Republic (CDP Domingo Paulino Santiago and Metros) and Venezuela (Trotamundos, Gigantes, Rojos, Acereros and Supersonicos) and Colombia (Aguilas, Condores, Fast Break, Cimarrones and Patriotas).
Among many awards he received Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SLB Most Improved Player of the Year award and was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Colombian LPB Clausura Honorable Mention in 2021.
