Titanes de Barranquilla (Liga WPlay) landed experienced 34-year old Dominican 211cm center Eloy Vargas (college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) for new season. Vargas played this summer at Condores. The last season he played at Aguada in Uruguayan LUB where in 27 games he averaged impressive 16.6ppg, 11.9rpg (leader !!!), 1.9apg, 1.2spg and 1.6bpg. Good season as he was voted League Player of the Week (4 times) and selected to Latinbasket.com All-Uruguay LUB Second Team.
In 2014 (two years after his graduation) he was drafted by Los Angeles D-Fenders (D-League) in first round (17th overall).
He graduated from University of Kentucky in 2012 and it will be his 13th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Vargas has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
He represented Dominican Republic at the World Cup in China four years ago. Vargas' team got to the Semifinals and his stats at that event were 5 games: 11.0ppg, 5.6rpg, FGP: 58.3%, FT: 86.7%.
Vargas is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in ten different countries playing on four different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Vargas has played previously professionally in Argentina (Gimnasia and Boca), Brazil (Flamengo), France (Boulazac Basket), Greece (Kavalas), Iran (Chemidor), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Spain (Clavijo), Venezuela (Trotamundos), Uruguay (Defensor and Larranaga) and Dominican Republic (San Carlos, San Lazaro, Cupes, CDP Domingo Paulino Santiago and Caneros). He won Dominican Republic LNB championship title in 2014, 2015 and 2017. Vargas was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Republic LNB Center of the Year in 2016, 2019 and 2021. He played for other colleges like: Miami Dade College, University of Florida.
