The Regular Season in Liga Wplay just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Cafeteros smashed Tigrillos in Armenia 74-52. Venezuelan power forward Jesus Martinez (206-1986) stepped up and scored 8 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Venezuelan forward Luis Bethelmy (200-1986) chipped in 15 points. Cafeteros' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Tomas Gutierrez (-2004) responded with 12 points.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sabios in San Andres Island. Visitors were defeated by Storm 90-78. The former international Luis Almanza (196-1991) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds for the winning side and Michael Jackson accounted for 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. American guard Kylon Higgins (190-1993, college: Arkansas Tech) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds for Sabios in the defeat.
Quite upsetting was Bucaros' home defeat in a game versus Motilones who edged hosts 80-79. Bucaros were very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. CJ Rodriguez fired 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Osbel Caraballo produced 22 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: Condores lost to Piratas on the opponent's court 73-103. Bottom-ranked Titanes outscored Corsarios in a home game 110-73. Cimarrones lost to Team Cali on the road 70-100.




Carrib.Storm - Sabios 90-78

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sabios in San Andres Island. Visitors were defeated by Storm 90-78. Sabios were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Luis Almanza (196-1991) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds for the winning side and the former international forward Michael Jackson (192-1987) accounted for 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Storm players scored in double figures. American guard Kylon Higgins (190-1993, college: Arkansas Tech) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Cristian Londono (198-1997) added 7 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Sabios in the defeat.

Piratas used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Cundinamarca 103-73 on Sunday night. Piratas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Condores' 42. They outrebounded Condores 44-33 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Desmond Holloway (194-1990, college: Coastal, agency: Interperformances) fired 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Tristan Jarrett (193-1998, college: Jackson St.) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists. American-Puerto Rican forward Jordan Glover (198-1996, college: TCNJ) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Ray Kowalski (190-1996, college: Catawba) added 19 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Dominican-Puerto Rican swingman Jonathan Rodriguez (196-1987, college: Campbell) fired a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winners. Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-1988, college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Four Titanes players scored in double figures.
