Liga Wplay top team - Storm (4-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Cimarrones (0-4) in San Andres Island 97-75. Storm shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-1989) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international Luis Almanza (196-1991) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Storm's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezuelan point guard Leonardo Palacios (186-1994) replied with 18 points and 4 steals for Cimarrones. Storm have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Titanes. Cimarrones at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Condores. Storm is looking forward to face Cafeteros (#5) in Armenia in the next round. Cimarrones will play at home against Tigrillos (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
Top-ranked Titanes blasted bottom-ranked Condores (0-4) in Cundinamarca 106-80 keeping the perfect record after 4 rounds. Condores is still unable to win any game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Juan Tello-Palacios (206-1985) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Eloy Vargas who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Ray Kowalski (190-1996, college: Catawba) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Condores' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Titanes have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Carrib.Storm. Condores at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Cimarrones. Titanes will play against Piratas (#4) in Bogota in the next round. Condores will play on the road against Motilones (#7) in Cucuta and look forward to get finally their first victory.
The game in Bucaramanga was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Piratas (3-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Bucaros (1-3). Piratas defeated Bucaros 90-79 on Saturday. The winners were led by Desmond Holloway who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds by Tomas Rossi did not help to save the game for Bucaros. Piratas moved-up to third place, which they share with Cafeteros and Team Cali. Loser Bucaros keep the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Sabios and Tigrillos. Piratas will meet at home league's second-placed Titanes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bucaros will play against Corsarios (#6) in Cartagena and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 4 were not that significant. Corsarios beat Motilones on the road 76-74. Cafeteros destroyed Sabios on its own court 100-61. Team Cali outscored Tigrillos in a road game 80-57.
The most impressive performance of 4th round was 22 points and 5 rebounds by Brian Vazquez of Team Cali.




Carrib.Storm - Cimarrones 97-75

Motilones - Corsarios 74-76

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Corsarios (2-2) edged one of their biggest challengers Motilones (2-2) in Cucuta 76-74 on Saturday. The winners were led by American point guard Jeremy Smith (180-1997, college: CSUSB) who scored that evening 29 points and the former international guard Yesid Mosquera-Perea (198-1996, college: Life) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds by Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-1991) did not help to save the game for Motilones. Puerto Rican point guard Brandon Davis (190-1998) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Five Motilones players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Corsarios moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Motilones. Corsarios will meet at home Bucaros (#9) in the next round. Motilones will play against Condores and hope to secure a win.

Strangely Bucaros outrebounded Piratas 48-33 including 18 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American Desmond Holloway (194-1990, college: Coastal, agency: Interperformances) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Tristan Jarrett (193-1998, college: Jackson St.) supported him with 18 points. Even a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds by Argentinian Tomas Rossi (202-1995) did not help to save the game for Bucaros. Venezuelan forward Osbel Caraballo (196-1998, college: STAC) added 19 points and 15 rebounds for lost side. Five Piratas and four Bucaros players scored in double figures. Piratas moved-up to third place, which they share with Cafeteros and Team Cali. Loser Bucaros keep the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Sabios and Tigrillos. Very expected game when 9th ranked Sabios (1-3) were smashed by fifth ranked Cafeteros (3-1) in Armenia 100-61 on Sunday. Cafeteros forced 22 Sabios turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by Venezuelan point guard Harold Cazorla (175-1991, agency: Promo Sport ID) who scored that evening 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican Luis Montero (203-1993, college: South Plains) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Cafeteros players scored in double figures. Even 29 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by American guard Kylon Higgins (190-1993, college: Arkansas Tech) did not help to save the game for Sabios. Forward Cristian Londono (198-1997) added 8 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cafeteros moved-up to third place, which they share with Piratas and Team Cali. Loser Sabios dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Bucaros and Tigrillos. Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Team Cali (3-1) rolled over 8th ranked Tigrillos (1-3) in Medellin 80-57 on Sunday. Team Cali dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Tigrillos' 32. The winners were led by American-Puerto Rican guard Brian Vazquez (190-1994) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 rebounds and American Tirrell Brown (198-1993, college: OBU) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points and 9 rebounds by Aaron Lewis did not help to save the game for Tigrillos. Tariq Christian added 15 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Team Cali moved-up to third place, which they share with Piratas and Cafeteros. Loser Tigrillos keep the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Sabios and Bucaros. Team Cali will meet at home Sabios (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tigrillos will play against Cimarrones in Quibdo-Choco and hope to win that game.
