Alvarez's pro career starts at Leon

Maria Alvarez

Baloncesto Femenino Leon (LF2) signed 23-year-old Colombian international 170cm guard Maria Alvarez for the upcoming season. She recently graduated from S.Florida (NCAA) after playing there for five years. Prior to that, she attended Miami Country Day High School in Miami, FL.
As mentioned above, she is just out of college and it will be her first full season in pro basketball.
Alvarez has been a member of the Colombian international program for some years. She has regularly played for the Colombian senior team since 2019 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2019.
Alvarez also represented Colombia at the Panamerican Games in Lima (Peru) five years ago. Her team reached the Semifinals and she averaged 3 ppg.
