LPB Round 8 (Regular Season): Motilones defeat Carrib.Storm in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 8 in the LBP took place in San Andres Island. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Storm (4-7) to second ranked Motilones (6-5) 78-76 in the game for the second place. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Motilones made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Sal Nuhu (203-1995, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks and the former international forward Michael Wright (198-1987) who added 24 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) during the contest. Motilones' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Emmitt Williams (198-1998, college: LSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Motilones have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 6-5 record behind leader Caimanes. Carrib.Storm at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Villavicencio. First ranked host Caimanes (9-3) defeated 4th ranked Piratas (4-8) 99-82. The winners were led by Panamanian Alejandro Grant (199-1993) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 rebounds and Sebastian Valencia supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by Panamanian center Enrique Solis (203-1998) did not help to save the game for Piratas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Caimanes maintains first position with 9-3 record. Piratas at the other side keep the fourth place with eight games lost.

Loser Piratas keep the fourth place with eight games lost.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 8 points and 14 rebounds by Jhon Hernandez of Caimanes.

Caimanes - Piratas 99-82

The game between Top Four teams took place in Villavicencio. First ranked host Caimanes (9-3) defeated 4th ranked Piratas (4-8) 99-82. Caimanes shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Piratas' players. The winners were led by Panamanian Alejandro Grant (199-1993) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Sebastian Valencia (200-1997) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
