Pena is back at Welcome

Alvaro Pena

Atletico Welcome Montevideo (LUB) has agreed terms with 29-year-old Colombian international shooting guard Alvaro Pena (197cm-1995, agency: Starting 5) for the new 2025-26 season. It is his comeback to Montevideo as he has played here before. He played last season at Univ.Sucre in Bolivian Libobasquet. In three Liga Sudamericana games just recently, he had very impressive stats: 16.0ppg, 10.3rpg, 2.3apg, and 2.0spg.
He also represented Colombia at the FIBA World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers two years ago. His team won Silver and he had over 1 ppg.
Pena is a highly experienced player, having played for teams in Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Uruguay. He won the Colombian LBP Apertura championship title in 2025 and the cup in the same year. Pena was voted to the Latinbasket.com Colombian LBP Apertura All-Domestic Players Team in 2025.
