LBP 2026 - Shavar Newkirk (ex Centauros) joins Motilones

Shavar Newkirk

Motilones del Norte (LBP) agreed terms with 29-year old American shooting guard Shavar Newkirk (180cm-79kg-1996, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Interperformances). He is the second foreign player in the roster as Panamanian Josimar Ayarza signed here earlier. He started the season at Centauros in Venezuelan SPB league. In four games just recently he had 11.3ppg, 2.8rpg and 3.5apg.
He is quite an experienced player. Newkirk's career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in seven different countries. He tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and of course North America. Newkirk has played professionally in Estonia (TSA Kalev), Germany (Schalke), Iceland (Hottur), Indonesia (NSH Mountain Gold Timika), Czech Republic (Slavia), and Colombia (Cimarrones).
In 2018, his team reached the Atlantic 10 Tournament Semifinals. In 2023, he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Indonesian IBL Honorable Mention.
Newkirk graduated from Saint Joseph's University in 2018 and is currently in his eighth season as a professional player.
