LBP Round 2 (Regular Season): Piratas are defeated by Caimanes

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LBP. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Piratas in Bogota on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Caimanes 81-76. Caimanes outrebounded Piratas 55-38 including a 43-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Yildon Mendoza (206-1996, college: Angelo St.) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Rashad Hassan (203-1989, college: SSU) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. point guard David Soler (181-1998) responded with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Piratas' coach Jose Tapias tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
Important game to mention about took place in Bogota. Piratas saved a 2-point victory at home edging Caimanes 80-78 in the game for the third place. Point guard David Soler (181-1998) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Justin Quintero supported him with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Even 22 points and 8 rebounds by the former international forward Yildon Mendoza (206-1996, college: Angelo St.) did not help to save the game for Caimanes. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
Very important is a road loss of Motilones against Cimarrones on Monday night. Visiting Motilones were defeated by Cimarrones in a tough game in Quibdo-Choco 74-80. The best player for the winners was TyLik Evans who scored 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Soren De Luque produced 23 points and 7 rebounds for the guests.

In the last game of round 2 Motilones won against Cimarrones on the opponent's court 84-80.



Piratas - Caimanes 76-81

Cimarrones - Motilones 80-84

Rather expected game in Quibdo-Choco where Cimarrones were defeated by Motilones 84-80 on Sunday. Motilones forced 29 Cimarrones turnovers. Strangely Cimarrones outrebounded Motilones 40-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Panamanian Josimar Ayarza (205-1987, college: Southern Miss) who scored 30 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Soren De Luque (200-1998) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Alejandro Minota (189-1998) produced 18 points and 7 assists and forward Yedier Mosquera (-2003) added 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts.
