LPB Round 12 (Regular Season): Toros beat Piratas in the most crucial game of the week

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LBP. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cali. First ranked Toros faced 3rd ranked Piratas. Host Toros (12-2) smashed guests from Bogota (8-6) 81-52. Toros held Piratas to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Toros had a 44-32 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Leonardo Salazar (178-1993) who scored 25 points and 5 assists. American point guard Emmanuel Payton-Clottey (183-1997, college: FSU) chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Panamanian forward Aaron Gedeon (203-1999, college: Southwest) who recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-2 record. Piratas lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with six games lost.

Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. In the last two games of round 12 Cimarrones were crushed by Paisas in Medellin 116-89. Paisas beat Cimarrones at home 86-79.

Paisas - Cimarrones 116-89

There was no surprise in Medellin where 5th ranked Cimarrones (7-7) were crushed by second ranked Paisas (9-5) 116-89. Paisas players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was a good game for American guard Davion Bailey (193, college: UIW) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The other American import swingman Marcus Weathers (199-1997, college: SMU) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Venezuelan point guard Jesus Medina (188-1994) replied with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center John Hernandez (207-1984) added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Cimarrones. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paisas have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Toros. Cimarrones lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost.

No shocking result in a game in Medellin where second ranked Paisas (9-5) defeated 5th ranked Cimarrones (7-7) 86-79. Paisas made 25-of-30 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Cimarrones outrebounded Paisas 56-41 including a 29-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Paisas brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks.
