LBS Round 11: ARBA defeat Siquirres in the game between Top 4 teams

Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

An interesting game for ARBA (11-0) which hosted in San Jose 4th placed Siquirres (4-6). Leader ARBA had an easy win 93-57. ARBA dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Siquirres' 50. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Siquirres' players. Forward Jose Martinez (-2) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Isaac Conejo (182-94) contributed with 11 points, 13 assists and 5 steals for the winners. ARBA's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Christopher Calderon (-89) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds for Siquirres. Undefeated ARBA have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record. Siquirres lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with six games lost.
LBS top team - ARBA (11-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Asobasca (1-11) in San Jose 112-70. It was a great evening for Jeikel Davis who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Isaac Conejo helped adding 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Fabian Arce (-4) responded with 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for ARBA. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record. Asobasca lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 11: bottom-ranked Asobasca was smashed by Perez Zeledon on the road 94-75. Alajuela won against Asobasca on its own court 77-69. Perez Zeledon unfortunately lost to Heredia in a road game 67-83.

Perez Zeledon - Asobasca 94-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Perez Zeledon's (3-7) home victory over bottom-ranked Asobasca (1-11) 94-75. It was a great evening for the former international forward Yackie Acuna (190-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jonathan Loaiza helped adding 18 points and 5 assists. Guard Jaime Alfaro (185-3) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and center Dario Solis (192-3) scored 16 points. Rather expected game when 7th ranked Asobasca (1-11) lost on the road to fifth ranked Alajuela (5-7) 77-69. Alajuela forced 19 Asobasca turnovers and had a 57-43 advantage in offensive rebounds. Asobasca was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Josephe Delgado (-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds. Alonso Mora (-2) helped adding 13 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Jaime Alfaro (185-3) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and John Salas scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Alajuela. They moved-up to fourth place. Asobasca lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost.

Rather predictable result when third ranked Heredia (5-5) won against at home 6th ranked Perez Zeledon (3-7) 83-67. It was a great evening for Panamanian Amir Alvarado (198-84, college: Marshalltown) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds. The former international power forward Daniel Simmons (194-80) helped adding 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Heredia players scored in double figures. The former international forward Yackie Acuna (190-80) responded with 20 points and the former international point guard Daniel Rodriguez (170-98) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Heredia maintains third place with 5-5 record having seven points less than leader ARBA. Perez Zeledon at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost.
