LBS Round 14: U Costa Rica edges U Latina by three points - Jul 3, 2017

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LBS took place in San Jose. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked U Latina (3-8) to eighth ranked U Costa Rica (4-9) 67-64 in the game for the sixth place. U Costa Rica moved-up to sixth place. U Latina lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Liberia. U Costa Rica are looking forward to face Liberia (#7) in the next round. U Latina's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from San Jose ARBA.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Grecia. Top-ranked ARBA faced 4th ranked Grecia. Guests from San Jose (12-0) defeated host Grecia (6-5) 65-52. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Grecia. American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-91, college: Portland St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds. Isaac Conejo contributed with 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American forward Marquis Aaron (196, college: Bellevue) replied with 8 points and 12 rebounds for Grecia. Grecia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated ARBA have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-0 record. Grecia at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. ARBA's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in San Jose to the arena U Latina.

Defending champion maintains second position with 10-2 record having just two points less than leader ARBA. Perez Zeledon lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Barva will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Perez Zeledon will play against Grecia (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 14 Liberia was crushed by Escazu in San Jose 90-70.
The best stats of 14th round was 26 points and 12 rebounds by Cory Bradford of Liberia.

Perez Zeledon - Barva 25-97

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Barva (10-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Perez Zeledon (4-8). Barva smashed Perez Zeledon 97-25 on Saturday. An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Grecia. Top-ranked ARBA faced 4th ranked Grecia. Guests from San Jose (12-0) defeated host Grecia (6-5) 65-52. ARBA held Grecia to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.7 percent accuracy of the winners and made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. ARBA outrebounded Grecia 50-30 including a 43-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-91, college: Portland St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Isaac Conejo (182-94) contributed with 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Escazu - Liberia 90-70

There was no surprise in San Jose where 6th ranked Liberia (3-8) was crushed by third ranked Escazu (9-3) 90-70 on Saturday. Escazu made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Escazu outrebounded Liberia 72-38 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Julius Brooks (206-90, college: Loyola, MD) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Michael Jackson (190-87) chipped in 15 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Five Escazu players scored in double figures. American guard Cory Bradford (191-78, college: Illinois) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and international Daniel Shedden (190-96) scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Escazu maintains third position with 9-3 record having just three points less than leader ARBA. Loser Liberia dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with U Latina. Escazu will meet bottom-ranked Abogados (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Liberia will play against U Costa Rica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
