Osmel Oliva
Former international Point guard Osmel Oliva (178-PG-87) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Pinar del Rio and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 29-year old playmaker had the game-high 15 points adding three rebounds and three assists for Pinar del Rio in his team's victory, helping them to crush Santiago (#6, 4-9) with 18-point margin 83-65. Pinar del Rio maintains the 2nd position in Cuban LSB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Pinar del Rio will need more victories to improve their 11-3 record. Oliva just recently signed at Pinar del Rio, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Oliva has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.0ppg), assists (4th best: 3.1apg) and averages solid 6.5spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old guard Raudelis Guerra (191-G-93) of Guantanamo. Guerra impressed basketball fans with 22 points and 2 assists. Bad luck as Guantanamo was edged by slightly higher-ranked Camaguey (#7, 1-12) 62-61. Guantanamo are still at the very bottom. 13 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Guerra is well-known by Guantanamo fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was former international guard William Granda (189-SG-85, agency: Pro Sports) of Ciego de Avila (#5). Granda scored 24 points. Despite Granda's great performance Ciego de Avila lost 64-72 to slightly higher-ranked Capitalinos (#3, 8-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Ciego de Avila not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 9 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Granda could try to bring Ciego de Avila's a little bit higher in the standings. Granda has individually a great season in Cuba. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.3ppg (6th best). He also has 4.3spg and FGP: 51.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Yuniskel Molina (185-G-93) of Matanzas - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Lazro Sanchez) of Matanzas - 21 points and 2 rebounds
6. Diagmani Vazquez (192-SG-87) of Pinar del Rio - 16 points and 2 assists
7. Yoel Cubillas (204-C-94) of Villa Clara - 15 points and 8 rebounds
8. Yuset Tito (197-F-92) of Guantanamo - 13 points and 8 rebounds
9. Esteban Martinez (192-F-87) of Santiago - 25 points and 2 rebounds
10. Luis Curtiz) of Matanzas - 18 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
