Howard Sant-Roos (ex Darussafaka) joins AEK Athens - Aug 3, 2018

AEK Athens (A1) agreed terms with 27-year old Cuban forward Howard Sant-Roos (200-81kg-91). He played last season at Darussafaka in Turkish BSL league. In 29 games he had 7.3ppg, 4.7rpg, 3.6apg and 1.3spg. Sant-Roos helped them to make it to the Turkish Cup Semifinals. He also played 21 games in Eurocup where he recorded 8.6ppg, 4.2rpg, 4.0apg and 2.0spg (leader !!!).
The previous (16-17) season Sant-Roos played at CEZ Nymburk in Czech Republic NBL. In 40 games he averaged 13.6ppg, 6.0rpg, 3.4apg and 2.1spg. Quite impressive season as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Czech Rep. League Import Player of the Year, Finals MVP and Forward of the Year. Sant-Roos also played 15 games in Basketball Champions League where he got 13.2ppg, 6.8rpg, 3.0apg and 2.5spg (in top 2). It was another spectacular season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Basketball Champions League Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Sant-Roos won Czech Republic League championship title for two years in a row (2016 and 2017).
He has played previously professionally in Germany (Braunschweig and SG Braunschweig) and Italy (UCC Piacenza and Tessilform Bernareggio).
On Sant-Roos: He is an outstanding athlete with a very good size for a guard, 6'7" tall with 6'9" wingspan and 34" inches of vertical, has the physical tools to play 3 positions both end of the floor. He is a multidimensional player with a good mentality, team player and really unselfish. On the defensive he has great insticts, speed, agility and above the average lateral quickness, very good rebounding, very active hands and he is capable to defend all three perimeter positions. On offense he is versatile, can play all three position as well, primary ball handler potential, he is a reliable 3pt shooter and very good free throws shooter, really good pushing the ball, can move and pass the ball, also capable to play without the ball in his hands and reading spaces.
