ISMAEL ROMERO

Capitanes Ciudad de Mexico (LNBP) signed 27-year old Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-100kg-91). He played last summer at Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 52 games he had 14.8ppg, 6.8rpg and 1.2apg. Romero helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. A very impressive season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN 1st Team, All-Star Game and All-Defensive Team. The last season he played at Hapoel Haifa (National League) in league where in 31 games he recorded very remarkable stats: 21.0ppg, 12.9rpg, 2.1apg and 1.6spg. Quite impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Israeli National League Honorable Mention and League Player of the Week (5 times).
Three years ago Romero was drafted by Grand Rapids Drive (D-League) in fourth round (63rd overall).
He is quite experienced player. Romero has played in four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Cuba (Villa Clara and Villa Clara), Mexico (Panteras) and Dominican Republic (Indios de San Francisco).
Romero could be described: A power forward with an NBA body and the quickness, jumping ability and strength to play in the NBA. This young man will be heard of after playing one year of International basketball. Former member of the Cuban National Team. 2014 University of Turabo, Puerto Rico scored 20 ppg 15 rpg and led team to undefeated championship title.

Belize national team, coached by Milton Palacio , went down 82-80 to Cuba in a nailbiter at the Belize Civic Center this evening.
