JAVIER JUSTIZ
We bring you last week's top performances from Cubans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Javier Justiz
Javier Justiz
#1. This week's number one is an international center Javier Justiz (205-92, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Spain). He could not help Zaragoza (6-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Justiz's good performance Zaragoza was defeated 86-78 at home by the much lower-ranked Blusens Monbus (#13). He scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Justiz averages: 7.4ppg, 4.5rpg, 2FGP: 51.8% and FT: 82.1%. He is currently a member of the Cuban senior national team.

Marvin Cairo
Marvin Cairo
#2. Second place goes to an international swingman Marvin Cairo (201-91, currently plays in Argentina). Cairo was the major contributor in Ciclista's victory against the seventh-ranked Parque Sur (5-8) crushing them 85-64 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) on Friday night. He had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 10 rebounds. Cairo also added 3 assists and 2 blocks in 33 minutes. Ciclista Juninense (6-7) is placed fifth in South - C.South group. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Cairo's first season with the team. Cairo has relatively good stats this year: 12.6ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.6apg, 2FGP: 62.5%(25-40), 3FGP: 30.4% and FT: 63.0% in seven games he played so far. Ex-Capitalinos Azules de La Habana player is in the roster of the Cuban senior national team.

Yorman Polas Bartolo
Yorman Polas Bartolo
#3. The Cuban player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international swingman Yorman Polas Bartolo (191-85, currently plays in Germany). He was not able to help Telekom Baskets in their game against EWE Baskets (7-2) in the German BBL. Bartolo recorded 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes. Telekom Baskets was badly defeated 98-78 on the road by the higher-ranked (#4) EWE Baskets. It was Telekom Baskets' fourth consecutive loss in a row. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This year Bartolo's overall stats are: 6.6ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.1apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 40.5% and FT: 73.7% in 10 games. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and German. Bartolo played for the Cuban national team seven years ago.

Grismay Paumier
Grismay Paumier
#4. Power forward Grismay Paumier (205-88, currently plays in France) led Saint Chamond to a victory over the 15th-ranked Denain Voltaire (2-6) 79-73 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. He was MVP of the game. Paumier scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Saint Chamond Basket Valle du Gier (5-3) is placed fourth in the ProB. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This season Paumier has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg and 4.2rpg. He used to play for the Cuban national team back in 2009.

The list of other players, who all have Cuban passport but never been selected to any of Cuban national teams:

#1. Howard Sant-Roos (200-F-91, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) led his Greek team AEK to a victory against the closely-ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (6-2) 83-70 in the Basketball Champions League in Tuesday night's game. He scored 13 points and blocked 2 shots in 33 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. AEK Athens (7-1) is placed first in the Basketball Champions League. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. It's Sant-Roos' first season with the team. This year Sant-Roos averages: 7.2ppg, 3.4rpg, 2.8apg and 2.4spg in five games he played so far.

#2. Yunio Barrueta (193-F/G-93, agency: Inception Sports, college: Barry, currently plays in France) could not help Sluc Nancy (5-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Sluc Nancy was defeated 80-71 on the road by the much lower-ranked ADA Blois (#10). Barrueta was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 4 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Barrueta's overall stats this year are: 9.6ppg and 2.6rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and American. Strangely Barrueta has never played in Cuba.

#3. Marlon Diaz (200-F-98, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a 2-point La Union's victory against the third-ranked Estudiantes Olavarria (8-5) 71-69 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) in Monday night's game. Diaz recorded 6 points in only 9 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group South - C.South. La Union Colon (4-4) is placed third. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Diaz's total stats are: 2.3ppg and 2.8rpg in 11 games.

#4. Experienced Michel Espinosa (190-PG-0, currently plays in Argentina) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marlon Diaz and both played together in the last Argentinian La Liga Argentina game. Espinosa managed to help La Union Colon to win against the third-ranked Estudiantes Olavarria (8-5) 71-69. He recorded only 3 points. This season Espinosa averages just 2.1ppg.

#5. Yankiel Moreno (189-G-90, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Baltur Cento in their game against Extralight MNT (7-4) in the Italian Serie A2 (second division). He cannot count Wednesday's game as one of the best ones. Moreno recorded only 3 points in 23 minutes. The ninth-placed Baltur Cento (4-6) lost 63-70 at home to the higher-ranked (#4) Extralight MNT in the East group. It was Baltur Cento's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Moreno's total stats are: 6.9ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.4apg and 1.4spg in 10 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Cuban and Italian.
