YORMAN POLAS BARTOLO
We bring you last week's top performances from Cubans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Yorman Polas Bartolo
Yorman Polas Bartolo
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international swingman Yorman Polas Bartolo (191-85, currently plays in Germany). He was the major contributor in a Telekom Baskets' surprising victory against the third-ranked SC Rasta Vechta (15-6) 117-112 in the German BBL in Thursday night's game. Bartolo had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds in 32 minutes on the court. Telekom Baskets Bonn (9-10) is placed 11th in the BBL. This year Bartolo averages: 9.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.0apg, 3FGP: 29.5% and FT: 76.6% in 19 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and German. Bartolo played for the Cuban senior national team eight years ago.

Jasiel Rivero
Jasiel Rivero
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Jasiel Rivero (204-93, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). He led Boca Juniors to a 1-point victory over one of league's weakest teams Argentino (4-13) 78-77 in the Argentinian La Liga on Sunday night. Rivero was MVP of the game. He recorded 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. Boca Juniors (10-8) is placed ninth in the La Liga. It's Rivero's first season with the team. Rivero has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 18.4ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.5apg, 3FGP: 41.5% and FT: 72.4% in 17 games. Rivero is in the roster of the Cuban senior national team.

Karel Guzman
Karel Guzman
#3. The Cuban player who performed third best last week abroad was an international shooting guard Karel Guzman (188-95, currently plays in Argentina). He managed to help Olimpico de La Banda to win against the 18th-ranked Bahia Basket (4-12) 80-75 in the Argentinian La Liga in Tuesday night's game. Guzman scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Olimpico de La Banda (8-9) is placed 13th in the La Liga. Guzman's overall stats this season are: 7.9ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 50.8%, 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 59.0%. He is also a member of the Cuban senior national team.

Yoanki Mensia
Yoanki Mensia
#4. Forward Yoanki Mensia (197-97, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Boca Juniors (10-8) 83-68 in the Argentinian La Liga last Wednesday. Mensia recorded only 4 points in 7 minutes on the court. Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia (10-6) is placed fifth in the La Liga. This year Mensia's overall stats are: 3.4ppg and 1.9rpg in 15 games. He is also Cuban national team player.

Reynaldo Garcia
Reynaldo Garcia
#5. Former international guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90, currently plays in Mexico) led Lenadores to an easy victory against the leader Fuerza Regia (31-9) crushing them 104-82 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Tuesday. He recorded 20 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists (made all of his eight free throws) in 32 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group North. Lenadores de Durango (25-14) is placed third. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Garcia has relatively good stats this year: 13.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 5.8apg and 3.3spg in eight games. He used to play for the Cuban national team ten years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Cuban passport but never been selected to any of Cuban national teams:

#1. Darol Hernandez (206-F-89, currently plays in Belarus) led COR-Borisfen to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Tsmoki II (10-10) crushing them 76-50 in the Belarusian Premier League last Wednesday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 17 rebounds. Hernandez also added 3 assists. COR-Borisfen Mogilev (18-2) is placed first in Places 1-4 group. It was his team's 13th consecutive victory in a row. Hernandez has relatively good stats this season: 11.3ppg, 10.8rpg, 3.0apg and 1.3spg.

#2. Juan Ferrales (187-G-91, college: Barry, currently plays in Norway) led Kongsberg to an easy victory against the league outsider Asker Aliens (3-21) 73-58 in the Norwegian BLNO on Wednesday night. Ferrales recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 6 assists (made all of his five free throws). Kongsberg Miners (21-3) is placed first in the BLNO. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ferrales has relatively good stats this season: 13.7ppg, 4.5rpg, 5.4apg and 1.9spg. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and American. Strangely Ferrales has never played in Cuba.

#3. Sigfredo Casero-Ortiz (185-PG-97, currently plays in Belgium). He could not help Okapi Aalstar (7-10) to beat Kangoeroes (6-11). Casero-Ortiz scored 8 points in 24 minutes. Okapi Aalstar lost 71-78 on the road to the lower-ranked (#8) Kangoeroes. This year Casero-Ortiz's total stats are: 7.1ppg, 1.2rpg and 1.5apg in 17 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Cuban and Belgian. Despite Casero-Ortiz's Cuban nationality, he previously played for the Belgian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Cuban team.

#4. Juaquin Duarte (192-G-88, currently plays in Mexico) was not able to help Santos in their game against Correcaminos (18-22) in the Mexican LNBP (second division). Duarte cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points. The sixth-placed Santos (13-27) was crushed 104-74 in Ciudad Victoria by the higher-ranked Correcaminos (#5) in the North group. The Regular Season already ended. This season Duarte averages just 1.1ppg.

#5. Yankiel Moreno (189-G-90, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Baltur Cento (6-16) in their game against GSA Udine (14-8) in the Italian Serie A2 (second division). He recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in 26 minutes. The 16th-placed Baltur Cento (6-16) was crushed 95-64 at home by the much higher-ranked (#4) GSA Udine in the East group. It was Baltur Cento's fifth consecutive loss in a row. This year Moreno's total stats are: 6.4ppg, 3.5rpg, 3.9apg and 1.1spg in 17 games. He has both Cuban and Italian nationalities. Despite Moreno's Cuban passport, he previously played for the Italian U18 national team and probably cannot be called to the Cuban team.

#6. Marlon Diaz (200-C-98, currently plays in Argentina) managed to help La Union Colon to win against the third-ranked Racing Chivilcoy 75-64 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) in Saturday night's game. Diaz scored only 2 points. Diaz's total stats this season are: 4.2ppg and 3.9rpg.
