Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Cubans who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international swingman Yorman Polas Bartolo (191-85, currently plays in Germany). Bartolo could not help Telekom Baskets (18-16) in their last game. Despite his good performance Telekom Baskets lost 94-105 on the road to the second-ranked EWE Baskets. Bartolo recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in 33 minutes on the court. This year Bartolo averages: 9.1ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 52.7%, 3FGP: 27.8% and FT: 66.4% in 35 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and German. Bartolo played for the Cuban senior national team eight years ago.

Jasiel Rivero

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Jasiel Rivero (204-93, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). He led Boca Juniors to a 2-point victory against the closely-ranked Estudiantes Concordia (20-18) 84-82 in the Argentinian La Liga last Wednesday. Rivero recorded 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. Boca Juniors (20-18) is placed eighth in the La Liga. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Rivero has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 18.4ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.4apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 57.3%(212-370), 3FGP: 37.3% and FT: 68.3% in 39 games. Rivero is in the roster of the Cuban senior national team.

   #3. The Cuban player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Javier Justiz (205-92, also represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Spain). He was not able to help Zaragoza (0-0) in their game against Gran Canaria in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Justiz scored 8 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. his team was defeated 84-79 in Las Palmas by the lower-ranked Gran Canaria. Justiz's overall stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 2FGP: 46.2% and FT: 67.1%. He is also a member of the Cuban senior national team.

   #4. Forward Yoanki Mensia (197-97, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a 1-point Gimnasia's victory against the tenth-ranked La Union (8-30) 71-70 in the Argentinian La Liga in Friday night's game. Mensia scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 17 minutes. Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia (23-15) is placed third in the La Liga. This year Mensia's overall stats are: 4.6ppg and 2.3rpg in 38 games. He is also Cuban national team player.

   #5. Former international center Enrique Ramos (202-89, currently plays in Puerto Rico) was not able to secure a victory for Cariduros (14-16) in their game against Piratas (16-13) in the Puerto Rican BSN, despite his good performance on Thursday night. Ramos scored 11 points, had 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 21 minutes. But Cariduros lost 94-99 in Quebradillas to the higher-ranked (#3) Piratas. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Ramos' total stats are: 9.8ppg and 6.4rpg in 27 games. He used to play for the Cuban national team seven years ago.

   #6. Shooting guard Karel Guzman (188-95, currently plays in Argentina) couldn't help Olimpico de La Banda (18-20) in their game against Obras Basket in the Argentinian La Liga. He cannot count Monday's game as one of the best ones. Guzman scored only one point. Olimpico de La Banda was defeated 80-71 in Buenos Aires by the much higher-ranked Obras Basket (#3). Guzman has averaged so far 8.3ppg and 2.4rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Cuban National Team roster.


The list of other players, who all have Cuban passport but never been selected to any of Cuban national teams:

   #1. Howard Sant-Roos (200-F-91, currently plays in Greece) was the major contributor in AEK's victory against the eighth-ranked Holargos (12-14) crushing them 84-62 in the Greek A1 in Saturday night's game. He recorded 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 27 minutes. AEK Athens (18-8) is placed third in the A1. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. This year Sant-Roos averages: 6.9ppg, 4.2rpg, 2.4apg and 1.1spg in 25 games he played so far.

   #2. Ismael Romero (203-C-91, currently plays in Puerto Rico) could not help Vaqueros (13-14) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Vaqueros was defeated 85-80 on the road by the second-ranked Capitanes. Romero was the top scorer with 27 points. He also added 5 rebounds. Romero has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.5ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.8apg and 1.5spg.

   #3. Darol Hernandez (206-F-89, currently plays in Belarus) was not able to help COR-Borisfen (26-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance the first-placed COR-Borisfen (26-4) was defeated 80-71 on the opponent's court by the second-ranked Tsmoki-Minsk in the Places 1-4 group. Hernandez recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 4 assists (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line). Hernandez has relatively good stats this season: 12.2ppg, 8.7rpg, 2.4apg and 1.8spg.

   #4. Sigfredo Casero-Ortiz (185-PG-97, currently plays in Belgium) was not able to secure a victory for Okapi Aalstar (14-22) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Casero-Ortiz's very good performance Okapi Aalstar was defeated 90-83 in Antwerp by the leading Giants. He was the top scorer with 18 points. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Casero-Ortiz's total stats this season are: 7.8ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.6apg. He has a dual citizenship: Cuban and Belgian.

   #5. Yunio Barrueta (193-F/G-93, agency: Inception Sports, college: Barry, currently plays in France) contributed to a Sluc Nancy's victory against the 13th-ranked ALM Evreux (13-20) 91-85 in the French ProB (second division) in Friday night's game. Barrueta scored 10 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Sluc Nancy Basket Pro (22-11) is placed fifth in the ProB. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Barrueta has relatively good stats this season: 12.7ppg and 4.2rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Cuban and American. Strangely Barrueta has never played in Cuba.

   #6. Juan Pineiro (193-G-90, currently plays in Puerto Rico) couldn't help Brujos in their game against Leones in the Puerto Rican BSN. He scored 6 points in 16 minutes. His team lost 91-105. Pineiro has averaged so far 6.8ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.4apg in 28 games.

Penarol Quillacollo (Libobasquet) landed 27-year old Cuban ex-international center Eliecer Quintana (205-95kg-91). The last time (15-18) he played at Pinar del Rio in Cuban TNA league. Quintana has played there for the last three years. Quintana missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball. He won Cuban LSB championship title in 2017. Penarol Quillacollo (Libobasquet) agreed terms with 27-year old Cuban forward Alejandro Alvarez (194-85kg-92). The last time (11-13) he played at Capitalinos in Cuban LSB league. Alvarez missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball. Alvarez's team won Cuban LSB Regular Season in 2013. Penarol Quillacollo (Libobasquet) agreed terms with 27-year old Cuban international swingman Marvin Cairo (201-95kg-91). He played this summer at Ostioneros de Guaymas in Mexican CIBACOPA. In two games he had 7.5ppg and 1.5rpg. The last season Cairo played at Ciclista (La Liga) in Argentinian league where in 16 games he recorded 11.5ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.3apg.
