Here is the weekly review of the top performing Cuban players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international center
Clenia Noblet (190-1987, currently plays in Mexico). Noblet led
Quetzales to a victory over the 11th-ranked Las Plebes (5-13)
93-82 in the Mexican LMBPF last Saturday.
She was MVP of the game. Noblet recorded a double-double by scoring 35 points and getting 18 rebounds. She also added 8 assists.
Quetzales de Sajoma (9-9) is placed seventh in the LMBPF.
It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Noblet has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 24.3ppg, 11.4rpg, 2.5apg, 2FGP: 50.9%, 3FGP: 45.8%(27-59) and FT: 79.0%.
Noblet played for the Cuban senior national team year ago.
#2. Second place goes to former international center
Yayma Boulet (193-1984, currently plays in Mexico). She could not help
Lobas (13-7) in their last game. Despite Boulet's very good performance Lobas was crushed
80-59 at home by the second-ranked Regias.
She had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 16 rebounds in 37 minutes.
It was Lobas' fourth consecutive loss in a row.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Boulet has very impressive stats this year: 25.0ppg, 12.1rpg, 1.1bpg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 50.4%, 3FGP: 16.7% and FT: 82.1% in 18 games she played so far.
She played for the Cuban national team in 8.
#3. The Cuban player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center
Leanyi Becquer (194-1997, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Yayma Boulet and both played together in the last Mexican LMBPF game.
Becquer. She was not able to help
Lobas in their game against Regias (17-1).
Becquer scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Lobas was crushed
80-59 on their home court in Ciudad de Mexico by the second-ranked Regias.
Becquer's overall stats this season are: 5.0ppg, 5.2rpg, 2FGP: 43.4% and FT: 46.7%.
She played for the Cuban national team year ago.
#4. Power forward
Arleny Gonzalez (185-1987, currently plays in Chile) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Llolleo (0-2) crushing them
123-33 in the Chilean LNF last Sunday.
Gonzalez scored 9 points, grabbed 15 boards, dished 10 assists and stole 10 balls in 22 minutes.
CD Gimnastico Vina del Mar (2-0) is placed first in Group A.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Gonzalez's overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 16.5rpg, 7.0apg and 6.5spg in two games.
She used to play for the Cuban national team
back in 13.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Cuban passport: #1. Yeinny Dihigo (180-F-1996, currently plays in Switzerland) managed to help BCF Elfic Fribourg Basket in a victory against the closely-ranked Nyon (20-4)
81-64 in the Swiss SBL in Wednesday night's game.
She scored only 2 points in 16 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BCF Elfic Fribourg Basket (22-2) is placed first in the SBL.
It was her team's 15th consecutive victory in a row.
This year Dihigo averages: 6.1ppg and 4.6rpg in 27 games she played so far.
She has a dual citizenship: Cuban and Swiss.
