LSB Round 6: Lobos beat Spiritus by two after a very close game- February 28, 2023

Toros - Capitalinos 64-72 Bottom-ranked Toros is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to second ranked Capitalinos (5-1) 72-64 on Saturday evening. Capitalinos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-1 record behind leader Halcones, which they share with Lobos. Toros at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Gladiadores. Capitalinos will meet at home Spiritus (#6) in the next round. Toros will play against Huracanes and hope to get finally their first victory. Gladiadores - Huracanes 48-68 No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Huracanes (3-3) crushed on the road bottom-ranked Gladiadores (0-6) 68-48 on Saturday. Huracanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ciego de Avila. Loser Gladiadores still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Toros. Huracanes will meet bottom-ranked Toros (#8) in the next round. Gladiadores will play against the league's leader Halcones and look forward to get finally their first victory. Lobos - Spiritus 88-86 The most exciting game of round 6 in the LSB took place in Santa Clara. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Spiritus (2-4) to third ranked Lobos (5-1) 88-86 on Saturday evening. Lobos moved-up to second place, which they share with Capitalinos. Spiritus lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. Lobos is looking forward to face Ciego (#4) in Avila in the next round. Spiritus will play on the road against the league's second-placed Capitalinos in La Habana and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series. Ciego de Avila - Halcones 63-95 An interesting game for Halcones (6-0) which played road game in Avila against 4th ranked Ciego (3-3). Top-ranked Halcones had an easy win 95-63. Halcones have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Defending champion Ciego keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Huracanes. Halcones will play against Gladiadores (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Ciego will play against Lobos in Santa Clara and it may be a tough game between close rivals. |
