Liga Superior Round 5: Yayabo lose to Panteras- March 6, 2023

Camaguey - Sancti Spiritus 62-54 The game between third ranked Yayabo (3-2) and fifth ranked Panteras (3-3) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Yayabo was defeated by Panteras in a tough game in Camaguey 54-62. Panteras moved-up to fourth place. Yayabo at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Panteras are looking forward to face Pinar del Rio (#7) on the road in the next round. Yayabo will play against the league's second-placed Mambisas (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Guantanamo - Ciego de Avila 72-61 An interesting game for Guantanamo (5-0) which hosted in Guantanamo 4th placed Bufalos (2-2). Leader Guantanamo managed to get a 11-point victory 72-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bufalos. Guantanamo have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Santiago. Bufalos at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Guantanamo will play against Capitalinas (#6) in La Habana in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bufalos will play at home against Lobas and hope to get back on the winning track. Santiago - Pinar del Rio 102-43 Leader Mambisas blasted bottom-ranked Pinar del Rio (0-5) in Santiago 102-43 on Friday evening keeping the perfect record after 5 rounds. Pinar del Rio is still unable to win any game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Mambisas. Defending champion (5-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Guantanamo. Pinar del Rio lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Villa Clara. Mambisas will meet Yayabo (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pinar del Rio will play against Panteras (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory. Villa Clara - Capitalinas 35-81 No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Capitalinas (2-3) crushed bottom-ranked Lobas (0-5) in Santa Clara 81-35 on Friday. Capitalinas maintains sixth place with 2-3 record. Lobas lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Pinar del Rio. Capitalinas will meet at home league's leader Guantanamo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lobas will play against Bufalos (#5) in Ciego de Avila and look forward to get finally their first victory. |
