Ciego de Avila - Sancti Spiritus 69-74 There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Yayabo (4-4) beat one of their biggest challengers Bufalos (4-3) in Ciego de Avila 74-69 on Friday. Yayabo moved-up to fifth place, which they share with La Habana. Loser Bufalos keep the fourth position with three games lost. Yayabo will meet bottom-ranked Lobas (#8) in the next round. Bufalos will play against Panteras (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Villa Clara - Camaguey 55-75 Bottom-ranked Lobas is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Panteras (6-3) 75-55. Panteras have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 6-3 record behind leader Guantanamo. Lobas at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Pinar del Rio. Panteras will play against Bufalos (#4) in Ciego de Avila in the next round. Lobas will play at home against Yayabo (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory. Santiago - Guantanamo 44-70 The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Mambisas (7-1) in Santiago de Cuba on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Guantanamo (7-1) 70-44. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Mambisas. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Guantanamo keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Santiago. Guantanamo is looking forward to face Pinar del Rio (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Mambisas will play against Capitalinas (#5) in La Habana and are hoping to win this game. La Habana - Pinar del Rio 73-35 Bottom-ranked Pinar del Rio is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to fifth ranked Capitalinas (4-4) 73-35 on Friday evening. Capitalinas maintains fifth position with 4-4 record, which they share with Sancti Spiritus. Loser Pinar del Rio still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Villa Clara. Capitalinas will meet at home league's second-placed Mambisas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pinar del Rio will play against the league's leader Guantanamo (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory. |
