Vera Cruz Campinas (LBF) has added Ineidis Casanova, a 35-year-old Cuban ex-international point guard, to their roster for the 2024 season. Casanova previously played for Unimed Campinas in the Brazilian Paulista league, where she averaged 12.5 points per game, 1.5 rebounds per game, 4.1 assists per game, and 2.2 steals per game in 15 games. She also played for Catanduva earlier in the season.
She also represented Cuba at the Olympic Games Additional Qualifying Round in Nantes, France, eight years ago. Her statistics at that event were as follows: 4 games played, averaging 10.8 points per game, 3.8 rpg, 2.5 apg, and 1.5 spg. Her field goal percentage (FGP) was 44.1%, three-point percentage (3PT) was 44.4%, and free throw percentage (FT) was 50.0%.
She is a highly experienced player, having played professionally in various countries including Argentina (Obras), Cuba (Mambisas), Brazil (Maranhao, Gloria do Goita, FR/SEMELP Pindamonhangaba, UNINASSAU Basquete, and Ituano), and Argentina again. In 2023, her team emerged as the champions of the Paulista League Regular Season.
Among the many awards she has received, she was voted to the Latinbasket.com All-Paulista League Honorable Mention in 2022. She is nearing retirement age as a player, and it is highly likely that she will conclude her playing career at Vera Cruz.
