Cuba hold off Costa Rica in Centrobasket opener

Cuba registered the first win at the 2024 Centrobasket in Mexico. They outscored Costa Rica in the opener. Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-1989) scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the winners.
Cuba eked out an 18-17 lead after ten minutes. They held Costa Rica to just 9 points in the second frame to secure a 37-26 halftime lead. Cuba maintained the advantage throughout the third term. They entered the fourth period up by 14 points and never looked back en route to the win. Nahomis Vargas-Hardy (188-C-2003) tossed in 9 points for the winners. Ariana Mora (181-C-2003) answered with 15 points for Costa Rica.
