Gelvis Solano signs at San Carlos

Gelvis Solano

San Carlos (TBS) has signed Gelvis Solano, a 29-year-old 185cm guard from Merrimack College, represented by BMS Sport Agency. Solano recently played for Reales in the LNB, where he averaged an impressive 17.3ppg, 4.4rpg, 6.1apg, and 1.5spg in 27 games. Joining TBS will provide him with more playing time and a better match. He played a crucial role in helping his team win the league title, earning him the Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Rep. LNB Finals MVP, Guard of the Year, and All-Star Game awards. In the previous season, he played for Aguada in the Uruguayan league (LUB).
He represented the Dominican Republic at the FIBA World Cup in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia this year. His team won the gold medal, and his statistics for that event were as follows: In 5 games, he averaged 2.2 points per game and 2.0 apg.
He's a highly experienced player who has traveled extensively throughout his professional career. He has played in eleven different countries across four continents, including Argentina (Echague and Olimpico), Brazil (Paulistano), China (Hunan), Colombia (Tigrillos), Dominican Republic (Gregorio Urbano Gilbert, Enriquillo, and Santiago Max), Hungary (Szolnok), Italy (Bergamo), Mexico (Mineros), Uruguay, Venezuela (Cocodrilos), and Canada (Honey Badgers).
He graduated from Merrimack College in 2016, and this upcoming season will mark his ninth in professional basketball.
