Jaison Valdez claims Dominican Rep. LNB Hoops Agents weekly honour

Jaison Valdez (188-PG-1995) had a great game in the last round for Leones de Santo Domingo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9 (Second Stage).
The 30-year old playmaker had a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Metros (#1, 14-9) 104-93. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Leones maintains the 4th position in Dominican Rep. LNB. Leones is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 10th lost game this season out of 22 games. Valdez has many years of experience at Leones, through which he has constantly improved. Valdez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 7.2apg) and averages solid 50.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young power forward Luismal Ferreiras (200-PF-2003) of second-ranked Indios de San Francisco. Ferreiras impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 16 rebounds. Of course Indios cruised to a 101-93 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Marineros (#5, 10-13). Indios' second position in the standings has not changed. His team's 13-9 record is not bad at all. Ferreiras is one of the most experienced players at Indios and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Leones' star - American Trahson Burrell (201-F/G-1992). Burrell showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Leones de Santo Domingo, helping his team with a 104-93 win against #1 ranked Metros in a game of the week. Leones needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 10 lost games. Burrell has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 7.6rpg (5th best).
