Rivas' double-double lands him Player of the Week award

32-year old forward Angel Rivas (198-F-1993) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team GIE Cibao Immortals and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
He had a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Bonao (#5, 1-3) 99-92. It allowed Immortals to consolidate first place in the Dominican Rep. league. Immortals have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Rivas had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. It's his second year at Immortals and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Rivas has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.8ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 8.0rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 46.4% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Franklyn Jaquez (197-F-1997) of Bonao Basket. He is a forward in his first season at Bonao. In the last game Jaquez recorded an impressive double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Bonao was edged by LDC Ignite (3-3) 84-80. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Jaquez is a newcomer at Bonao and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.8ppg (#2). He also registered 10.3 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Immortals' star - guard Ameth Gil (191-SG-1988). Gil scored 23 points and passed 4 assists. Despite Gil's great performance the GIE Cibao Immortals lost 101-102 to #2 ranked Santiago Max. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Immortals had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 1st lost game is hopefully really an accident. Gil's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Gil has a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (4th best) and assists with 3.5apg (6th best).
