CDP WINS THE TITLE!!! - May 2, 2010 CDP, in a tremendous battle, that went into overtime in the sixth game of the Grand Final, won the championship, defeating CPN Pueblo Nuevo 103-97. CDP, took their fifth title in the history of the Santiago League, after after they last won the title in 1999. CPN Pueblo Nuevo got the first quarter 19-12, with a difference of 7, in a defensive struggle. CDP won one in the second quarter 20-19, but ended up losing the first half 38 to 32. The strong push was in the second half, where things really began to heat up in the 'Gran Arena del Cibao', when both groups ended steady from 60 -60, until the last 10 minutes of action. 60-60 to start the 4th quarter , ended the period with Jose Ramon Paulino, Odalis, stealing the ball with nine seconds remaining to level the action 87-87, forcing overtime. Thereafter Paulino, next to Franklin Matos, team captain and scorer to exercise leadership, fouled out of the game and Adris Salisbery Dustin De Leon, and Matos Odalis forced the issue to give the hard fought victory to CDP, under the direction of Nelson-Nelsito-Urea. The new champions of the Santiago Superior League dominated 16-10 in overtime and the new history of the Grand Final was written there. Adris Deleon (180-G-84, college: E.Washington) in a day finished with 35 points, Dustin Salisbury (196-G-84, agency: Buck Andre, college: Temple) 25, Rod Benson (208-F/C-84, college: California) 14, Franklin 10 Odalis Paulino Matos 8, and proved very valuable, especially in the final period. In CPN Pueblo Nuevo, Alejandro Flores (202-F-81, college: E.Oklahoma St. JC) 35, Victor Liz (188-C-88) 25, Luis Martinez (198-F-84, college: William Pater.) 17 and Puerto Rican, Angel de Jesus (179-G-78) 13.
