Venezuela - Dominican Republic 84:88 (OT)

Dominican Republic celebrated the second victory at the Super 4 Israel Sarmiento Cup tournament in Venezuela. They outgunned hosting Venezuela in an exciting clash in the final round. Both teams finished the tourney at 2-1 record, while Venezuela clinched the title.
Greivis Vasquez (198-PG-87, agency: Interperformances, college: Maryland) dominated the first half. The guard scored 16 points to put Venezuela in charge. The hosts established a 42:32 halftime lead. Dominican Republic also lost Jack Michael Martinez who was ejected after arguing with the referees. However Dominican Republic found the way to bounce back. Elpidio Fortuna (186-G-85) unloaded 10 points in the third quarter as Dominican Republic drew things level at 57 at the break. Dominican Republic pulled in front late in regulation after a basket by Guzman. But Greivis Vasquez drained a late triple to send the game into overtime. Edgar Sosa (188-PG-88, college: Louisville) stepped up for Dominican Republic in extra period sealing a tough win at the end. Ronald Ramon (185-G-86, college: Pittsburgh) provided 22 points to lead the charge. Elpidio Fortuna added 15 points, while Alfred Horford (208-F/C-86, college: Florida) connected for 13 points for the winners. Greivis Vasquez answered with game-high 31 points for Venezuela.
