Ivan Johnson
Atletico Welcome (LUB) added to their roster 32-year old American power forward Ivan Johnson (203-116kg-84, college: Cal State - San Bernardino, agency: Haylett Sports). He played last season at Reales de La Vega in LNB league in Dominican Republic.
In 2007 Johnson was drafted by Anaheim Arsenal (D-League) in second round (20th overall).
He attended Cal State - San Bernardino (NCAA Div.II) and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
Johnson has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014. Johnson was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Rep. LNB 2nd Team in 2016.
He won PBA Commissioner's Cup championship title in 2015.
He is quite experienced player. Johnson's career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in eight different countries. Johnson tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank and Qingdao Eagles), Iran (Petrochimi), Korea (KCC Egis and LG Sakers), Philippines (TNT Ka Tropa), Puerto Rico (Caciques), Spain (Gipuzkoa), NBA (Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks) and D-League (Texas Legends and Erie Bay Hawks).
On Johnson: Ivan Johnson is a great pick and pop PF that can knock down shoots from the NBA 3 point line. He will excel in pick and roll also with his ability to finish strong at the rim. Ivan's skill set is extremely high which will allow him to play at the highest level (NBA). Ivan's strength and quickness gives him the capabilities to defend positions 2-5.
