John Taylor
Cupes de los Pepines (Santiago League) tabbed 29-year old American guard John Taylor (185-86kg-89, college: Fresno Pacific). He played in the summer at Indios de San Francisco (LNB). Taylor managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 9 LNB games he averaged 9.4ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.3apg and 1.0spg. Santiago League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Taylor helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. The last season he played at Barsy Atyrau (National League) in league where in 22 games he had very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.2apg and 1.6spg. Taylor contributed to his team making it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team. He can count that season as a very successful as was awarded Asia-Basket.com All-Kazakhstan League Import Player of the Year, Guard of the Year and selected to 1st Team. Taylor also played 7 games in Baltic League where he recorded also remarkable stats: 18.1ppg, 2.9rpg, 2.3apg and 1.4spg.
Among other achievements Taylor won NJCAA D2 championship title in 2012. He received also NJCAA Player of the Year award back in 2012 at his college time.
Taylor is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in four different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with Asian, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Taylor has played previously professionally in Dominican Rep., Mexico (Lobos UAD Mazatlan and Ciudad), Dominican Republic (Huracanes del Atlantico and Pueblo Nuevo) and MBL (Chicago Fury).
He attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on he way to pro basketball.
Taylor attended Fresno Pacific University until 2013 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into His outlook: John was born on December 25, 1989 and he is from Chicago, Illinois. Taylor went to North Lawndale High School in Chicago, in 2008 he lead his team to the Illinois 2A state title and the Chicago City League Championship in 2009. He was a two-time First Team All-State selection and was the #6-ranked overall prospect in the state of Illinois.
After High School he played at Mott Community College in Michigan for coach Steve Schmidt. He earned National Division II Junior College Player of the Year honors while averaging 24.9 points per game and leading his team to a 35-1 record and the JUCO National Title. Also he scored 40 or more points on three occasions throughout the season. After playing at Mott Community College he signed with Fresno Pacific University which is NCAA Division II. This year Taylor, who led the nation in scoring with 27.5 points per game, finished the year as FPU's single-season record holder in points scored (825), points per game (27.5), field goals made (263) and free-throws made (216). Also was named First-Team All-American by the NCCAA
