Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Round in Santiago League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place when Plaza (3-2) beat league's leader Sameji (3-2) 112-107 on Friday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Plaza forced 27 Sameji turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Sameji helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Oliver Garcia (188-96) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American Robert Glenn (203-88, college: IUPUI) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Plaza have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with GUG and Sameji. Sameji will play next round against strong GUG trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago - GUG. Plaza will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
Very important is a loss of second ranked Pueblo Nuevo (3-3) against sixth ranked Cupes (1-4) on Friday night. Pueblo Nuevo was defeated by Cupes in a tough game 112-116. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Juan-Miguel Suero (198-93) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Osvaldo Lopez contributed with 34 points (!!!) (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for the winners. American guard Todd Mayo (190-91, college: Marquette) answered with 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for Pueblo Nuevo. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cupes maintains sixth place with 1-4 record. It was Pueblo Nuevo's third loss in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with CDP. Cupes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pueblo Nuevo will play at home against CDP (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
