The most exciting game of round 9 in the Santiago League ended with only three-point defeat of 6th ranked Cupes (1-5) to second ranked GUG (4-2) 92-89 on Wednesday evening. It was a good game for guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Alejandro Liriano (197-81) contributed with 23 points for the winners. point guard Juan-Miguel Suero (198-93) answered with 29 points and 9 rebounds for Cupes. GUG keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Plaza. Cupes at the other side stay at the bottom place with five games lost. GUG's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena CDP.
An interesting game for Plaza (4-2) which played against 4th placed Pueblo Nuevo (3-4). First ranked Plaza managed to get a 5-point victory 102-97. American Robert Glenn (203-88, college: IUPUI) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Anthony Cox chipped in 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Todd Mayo (190-91, college: Marquette) with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Plaza have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-2 record, which they share with GUG. Pueblo Nuevo lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Plaza's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Cupes.



Cupes - GUG 89-92
