The most exciting game of round 13 in the Santiago League ended with only one-point defeat of 4th placed Pueblo Nuevo (3-6) to first ranked GUG (6-2) 94-93 on Wednesday evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when GUG made 8 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Pueblo Nuevo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 4 assists. Forward Juan Guerrero (201-93) contributed with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. American power forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) answered with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 21 rebounds for Pueblo Nuevo. Pueblo Nuevo's coach Victor Pena rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. GUG have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-2 record. Pueblo Nuevo lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with CDP. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

CDP lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Pueblo Nuevo. Sameji's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Plaza.

American center Ivan Johnson (203-84, college: CS San Bernar., agency: Haylett Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) chipped in 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American swingman Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit Mercy) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists and Jensy Jimenez scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Five CDP players scored in double figures. Sameji moved-up to second place. CDP lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Pueblo Nuevo.
