25-year old point guard Juan Miguel Suero (198-PG-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cupes and receives a Interperformances Santiago League Player of the Week award for round 1 (Second Stage).
He had the game-high 23 points adding nine rebounds and six assists for Cupes in his team's victory, helping them to beat GUG (1-1) 78-72. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Cupes was forced-out from the top positions in Dominican Rep. Santiago League. Cupes is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 1st lost game this season out of 2 games. In the team's last game Suero had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Cupes, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Suero has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.3ppg. Suero is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.9rpg), assists (5th best: 6.6apg) and averages solid 1.9bpg and 61.1% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Nehemias Morillo (196-G-92) of top-ranked Sameji. He is a guard in his first season at Sameji. In the last game Morillo recorded impressive double-double of 22 points and 10 assists. Of course Sameji cruised to a 104-94 relatively comfortable win over Plaza (0-2). His team has extremely good start of the Second Stage. They won both games so far. However the Second Stage is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Morillo is one of the most experienced players at Sameji and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.6ppg (#8). His other stats are also decent: 4.8rpg and 7.4apg.

Third place about best performers goes to another Sameji's star - guard Bryant Mendez (G). Mendez scored 26 points and grabbed five rebounds. He was another key player of Sameji, helping his team with a 104-94 win against #4 ranked Plaza in a game of the week. Sameji has a very good start of the Second Stage. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Mendez also has a very good start of the Second Stage with very strong stats. Mendez has a very solid season. In 10 games in Dominican Republic he scored 16.8ppg. He also has 5.6rpg and FGP: 63.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Adris Rodriguez (202-C/F-82) of GUG - 7 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Jhonatan Araujo (208-C-96) of Plaza - 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Jamel Staten (198-G-83) of Sameji - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Jamaal Samuel (206-F-93) of Plaza - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Gustavo Rivas (F) of Sameji - 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Johan Santos) of Cupes - 17 points and 5 rebounds
10. Roberto Garcia (G) of Plaza - 19 points and 2 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
