JUAN GUERRERO

Forward Juan Guerrero (201-F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked GUG, receiving a Interperformances Santiago League Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage).
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (41 points, nine rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Sameji (3-3) 110-109. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. GUG is placed at 2nd position in Dominican Rep. Santiago League. GUG is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 3rd lost game this season out of 6 games. In the team's last game Guerrero had a remarkable 56.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at GUG, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Juan Guerrero has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 29.1ppg. Guerrero is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 9.9rpg) and averages impressive 2.7bpg and 59.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old Juan Miguel Suero (198-PG-93) of league's leader Cupes. Suero had a very good evening with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course Cupes cruised to a 103-93 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Plaza (#4, 2-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Cupes consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team has currently 4-2 record. Suero is one of the most experienced players at Cupes and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.3ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 8.5rpg and 6.7apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was another GUG's star - guard Kelvin Pena (193-G-80). Pena got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds and ten assists. He was another key player of GUG, helping his team with a 110-109 win against #3 ranked Sameji. GUG needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Pena has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.5ppg (8th best) and assists with 8.1apg (best passer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Gustavo Rivas (F) of Sameji - 24 points and 10 rebounds
5. Johan Santos) of Cupes - 19 points, 17 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Luis Flores (188-G-81) of Plaza - 37 points and 9 rebounds
7. Jaison Valdez (188-PG-95) of Cupes - 28 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Nehemias Morillo (196-G-92) of Sameji - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists
9. Adris Rodriguez (202-C/F-82) of GUG - 3 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Bryant Mendez (G) of Sameji - 22 points and 6 rebounds
