Dragons - Panteras 72-94 Very important is a home loss of second ranked Dragons (2-3) against fourth ranked Panteras (1-4) on Monday night. Host Dragons were crushed by Panteras in 94-72. Panteras dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Dragons' 44. Forward Anayelis Garcia (180-2002) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Ruth Aracena contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Center Elizabeth Lopez (185-2004) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Toynetta Johnson (172-1992, college: UWF) added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Dragons. Five Panteras and four Dragons players scored in double figures. Panteras maintains fourth place with 1-4 record. Dragons at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Panteras will play against league's leader Santiago in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Leona (3-2) 66-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Santiago. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was American guard Kiana Glenn (168-1997, college: Life) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. Odalmis Diaz chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Glenn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Leona's coach Brandon Hill used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Ashley Hagans (170) produced 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Maria Coronado (173-1991) added 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Leona moved-up to second place. Santiago at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Leona will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
