American Forward Tyasia Willis (178-F-1997) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Santiago, receiving a Hoops Agents TSF Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 25-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds, while her team edged out Leona (#3, 3-5) 76-75. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Santiago to consolidate first place in the Dominican Rep. TSF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Santiago has a very solid 7-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Willis just recently signed at Santiago, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Bethel University, Tennessee star has very solid stats this year. Willis is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.0ppg) and rebounds (5th best: 8.2rpg). Worth to mention Willis played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped her get the job in pro basketball.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Kristina Puthoff-King (180-PG-1992) of league's second-best Dragons. Puthoff-King had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds. Of course Dragons cruised to a 86-77 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Panteras (#4, 3-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Dragons consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. Her team's 5-4 record is not bad at all. Puthoff-King is one of the most experienced players at Dragons and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 10.8rpg and 8.1apg. Former University of Richmond star Puthoff-King is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Anayelis Garcia (180-F-2002) of Panteras (#4). Garcia scored 25 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite Garcia's great performance Panteras lost 77-86 to #2 ranked Dragons. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Panteras not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 6 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Garcia could try to bring Panteras' a little bit higher in the standings. Garcia has individually a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 9 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.9ppg (8th best), rebounds with 10.2rpg (2nd best) and assists with 2.0apg (9th best).
