Third ranked Leona (5-7) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th placed Panteras (4-9) 82-80 in the fight for the third place. Leona dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 44. American forward Aaliyah Rice (175-1997, college: Montevallo, agency: Domantay Sports) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Odalmis Diaz chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Rice is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side American guard Brittany Carter (183-1993, college: Illinois) responded with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Anayelis Garcia (180-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Leona and five Panteras players scored in double figures. Leona maintains third place with 5-7 record having six points less than leader Santiago. Panteras at the other side stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kristina Puthoff-King (180-1992, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists.
