Puthoff-King's double-double lands her TSF Player of the Week award- April 15, 2023
She had a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, while her team edged out Santiago (#1, 9-5) 81-80. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Dragons maintains the 2nd position in Dominican Rep. league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Dragons will need more victories to improve their 8-5 record. Puthoff-King just recently signed at Dragons, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Richmond graduate has very impressive stats this year. Puthoff-King is in league's top in points (2nd best: 22.3ppg) and averages solid 1.1bpg and 2.6spg. Worth to mention Puthoff-King played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped her get the job in pro basketball. Second best performed player last round was Marquisha Harris (180-PF-1993) of top-ranked Santiago. She is American forward in her first season at Santiago. In the last game Harris recorded impressive double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Santiago was edged by slightly lower-ranked Dragons (#2, 8-5) 81-80. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Santiago still maintains its place as the top team in the standings, even despite this loss. Her team has currently 9-5 record. Harris is one of the most experienced players at Santiago and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Former Western Michigan University star Harris is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Third place about best performers goes to another Dragons' star - guard Toynetta Johnson (172-PG-1992). Johnson showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the last round. She was another key player of Dragons, helping her team with a 81-80 win against #1 ranked Santiago. Dragons needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 5 lost games. Johnson has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 13 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.5rpg (6th best) and assists with 5.9apg (3rd best). She also has 3.7spg and 1.8bpg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Maria Coronado (173-G-1991) of Santiago - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists 5. Aaliyah Rice (175-F-1997) of Leona - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Allie Taylor (180-G/F-1994) of Leona - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Anayelis Garcia (180-F-2002) of Panteras - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Taylor Brown (170-PG-1993) of Dragons - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues.
