Monarchs - Equipo Femenino Fenix 70:49

The defending champions Flint Lady Monarchs rout Equipo Femenino Fenix in the opener of the Women's United Cup 2023. Flint posted an 70-49 win in Santiago. Monarchs nailed 20 points in the first period and added a 26-11 surge in the second frame. Moreover, they won the third quarter 20-14, whilst Equipo Femenino Fenix replied with a 24-14 run in the last stanza. Ameryst Alston (175-G-1993, college: Ohio St.) and Khaalia Hillsman (195-C-1996, college: Texas A&M) top-scored for the winners with 20 plus points each, whilst Asia Boyd (185-F-1992, college: Kansas) netted 10. Maria Coronado (168-G-1991) ended up with 17 points in the losing effort.

Immortals - Indias del Sur DS 62:39

Equipo Femenino Immortals have won Women's United Cup 2023 opener beating Indias del Sur 62-39. They started with a 29-14 run and never looked behind after. Moreover, GIE added a 19-16 run in the third quarter and closed the game with a massive 24-6 surge. Kristina Puthoff-King (180-PG-1992, college: Richmond) top-scored for the winners with 15 points (10 rebounds and 7 assists), whilst Jennifer Pena (175-G/F-1993, college: Missouri S&T), Toccara Ross (185-F-1986, college: Iowa St.) and Ruth Aracena (180-F-1999) poured in 10 points each. Melania Carmona replied with 15 points in a loss.
