Flammes sign rookie Esmery Martinez in her first year in pro basketball

Flammes Carolo Basket Ardennes (LFB) strengthened their roster with the addition of 24-year-old Dominican Rep. 188cm forward Esmery Martinez for the upcoming season. She just graduated from Arizona (NCAA). In 33 games, she recorded 11.1ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.2apg, and 2.0spg last season.
This summer, she was drafted by the New York Liberty (WNBA) in the second round (17th overall).
She just graduated from Arizona and it's her first full season in pro basketball.
Martinez started her college career at The University of Texas (NCAA) before transferring to West Virginia University (NCAA). During Martinez's high school career, she spent time at Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga, TN.
She represented the Dominican Republic at the Central American and Caribbean Games for Women in San Salvador (El Salvador) last year. Martinez played for other colleges such as West Virginia University and The University of Texas.
