Who Are The Best Latino Players
Currently In The NBA?
Latino athletes have been making an
impact in all sports. BetUS NBA sportsbook. Therefore, Latino basketball players have
been contributing on the court for as long as the game has existed. In the
2024/2025 season, many of them are playing an important role at both ends of
the court as their teams try to cement their place in the postseason. In professional basketball, the best
players are good even when they aren’t scoring. They get their rebounds. They
create. The players featured below made their way onto our list by contributing
at both ends of the court. What does it mean to be the
best?
Basketball produces the occasional
obvious sensation. Lebron James. Steph Curry. Nikola Jokic. Anthony Edwards.
You look at their stats and understand immediately that they dominate in a way
that is obvious just with a few numbers. That’s great. However, true fans
understand that excellence takes many forms. Teams need big scorers but they
also need rebound kings. Dogs who will pursue loose balls with a vengeance.
Defensive demons. Guys who can come off the bench and make their mark just a
few minutes at a time. The list below features all types of
basketball greatness. Al Horford - Boston
Horford, playing as a veteran forward for the
Boston Celtics, began his life in the Dominican Republic. The veteran player is
a five-time all-star noted for his high intelligence on the court. Not only does he contribute on the court
with a steady 7.9 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, but he is
also a noted local legend of the court. Horford is much loved by the Latino
community in Boston—particularly his fellow Dominicans, who are known to
support Horford in big numbers on game day.
Chris Duarte’s – Chicago Bulls
Duarte, also from the Dominican, has
brought his deadly shooting accuracy and noted defensive ability to Michael
Jordan’s former stomping grounds. In basketball, high-performing teams
understand the value of players who can contribute at both ends of the court.
That’s Duarte in a nutshell. At the time of writing, Chris Duarte has
been limiting his contributions to short relief minutes from off the bench. His
playtime has been low on the Bull’s well-developed roster, which has led to an
artificially low point-per-game average of 7. However, he is noted for his
talent and will continue to contribute to any franchise lucky enough to have
him as his career develops. Santi Aldama—Memphis
Santi Aldama has brought a respectable
12.8 points per game average to the Memphis Grizzlies this season. The young
forward also averages 6.7 rebounds and a very steady 48% field goal percentage. At only twenty-four years old, the
Spaniard is still maturing into his role as a full-court contributor. Devin Booker– Phoenix
Devin Booker, the Phoenix Suns’
Mexican-American guard has been absolutely lethal this year. With an average of
just under 25 points per game, the seasoned star is one of the most influential
players on the Suns’ roster. In Phoenix, where the Mexican-American
population is among the highest in the entire nation, Booker
has a particularly large—and certainly well-earned—following. Jaime Jaquez Jr.’s Miami
Jaime Jaquez, a Mexican American
superstar, entered the NBA quietly as the 18th overall draft pick in
2023. When Miami added him to the squad they were hoping for some of the grit
and hustle that brought him to the draft pool in the first place. They weren’t disappointed. Jaquez Junior
has established himself as a major fan favorite in Miami. Heat fans love the
way this Latin-American sensation doggedly pursues loose balls and plays with
steady determination off the bench. Averaging over 9 points per game, he is a
steady and influential presence for the Florida team. And at 24 years old, it
is safe to say that Jaquez Jr. has a lot of good hooping ahead of him. It’s A Good Time to Be a
Basketball Fan
The NBA is in a good place. While Curry
and Lebron head into the twilight of their careers there is tons of young blood
coming up to replace them. Many of these players are of Latin American descent.
It’s nice for fans of every background to see representation playing out on one
of basketball’s biggest stages. It’s also just great for the game to have such
consistent access to incredible talent. The names featured above are just some of
the many Latin players contributing to the game at a high level. Factor in
college ball and the WNBA and we would be here all day. The next few months will be exciting for
sports fans. First, March Madness. But while you may feel the letdown of a lull
between watching your brackets play out, don’t sleep on the sporting world’s
next great event: the Kentucky Derby. |
