Bigua adds Matos to their roster, ex Metros

Atletico Bigua Montevideo (LUB) has added 29-year-old Dominican Rep. shooting guard Jhery Matos to their roster for the new 2025-26 season. Matos, who stands at 196cm and weighs 88kg, played last season at Metros in the LNB league in the Dominican Republic. In 32 games, he averaged 13.0ppg, 5.1rpg, 3.6apg, and 1.4spg. He played a key role in helping his team win the regular season and reach the final. Matos had an impressive year, earning selections to the Dominican Republic LNB All-Star Game, Dominican Rep. League All-Star Game, and All-Domestic Players Team.
Matos is a very experienced player. He has played professionally in four different countries and visited three different continents during his career. He has played in Colombia (Motilones), Dominican Republic (Mauricio Baez and CPN Pueblo Nuevo), Spain (Alcala, La Roda, Benicarlo and Palmer Basquet Mallorca Palma) and Venezuela (Piratas). Matos has experienced life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America, and North America.
He won the Colombian LPB Clausura championship title in 2024.
Matos graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2021 and it will be his fifth season as a pro player. He played for other colleges such as University of Dayton, Monroe College, and Eastern Florida State College.
