SANTIAGO (AP) — GIE Cibao Immortals star Ameth Gil (191-SG-1988) made history Friday night, becoming the first player in LDC history to reach 5,000 combined points across regular season, playoffs, and Cup Games. Gil surpassed the milestone with a three-pointer early in the first quarter during the 2k26 Felipe Lopez Cup matchup. Just days earlier, Gil entered the game with 4,999 career points after scoring 22 points in a 73-71 contest against Gigantes Basketball Club. Already recognized as the all-time leading scorer in LDC and United Cup history, Gil continues to redefine longevity and consistency. He reached the historic 5,000-point mark in his 6th season, tying Angel Rivas for the most seasons played in LDC history. Former Immortals great Oliver Garcia ranks second all-time with 4,949 combined points across six LDC seasons and eight United Cup appearances. Still Dominating in Season 6 Despite being in his mid-30s, Gil has shown no signs of slowing down. Earlier this week, he was named LDC Western Conference Player of the Month, averaging: 23.3 Points 6.5 Rebounds 6.9 Assists 1.2 Steals 35+ Minutes per game The Immortals posted an 8-2 record during that stretch, surging into second place in the Western Conference. Record-Breaking Consistency Gil also continues to showcase historic consistency. With his recent performance against the LDC Ignite, he has now scored at least 18 points in 107 consecutive games since January 6, 2017 — the longest streak in LDC/Cup Play history. His career-high performance came with 42 points vs. Los Pepines, another milestone in an already legendary career. Earlier this season, on March 17, 2026, Gil also became the LDC regular-season all-time scoring leader, surpassing Oliver Garcia’s 4,949-point record during a game against CPH.
