Kevin Obanor claims Dominican Rep. LNB weekly honour

American Kevin Obanor (203-F-1999) had a very impressive game in the last round for Heroes de Moca and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 26-year old forward had the game-high 33 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for Heroes in his team's victory, helping them to beat Leones (#8, 5-11) 120-111. Heroes maintains the 3rd position in Dominican Rep. LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Heroes will need more victories to improve their 9-6 record. Obanor just recently signed at Heroes, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Texas Tech University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Obanor is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 7.8rpg) and averages solid 57.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young forward Andersson Mejia (201-F-2000) of Marineros de Puerto Plata. Mejia impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 13 assists. It was enough for Marineros to edge the higher-ranked Metros (#2, 11-4) by 4 points 86-82. Despite this victory Marineros slide down in the standings to 5th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 8-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Mejia is one of the most experienced players at Marineros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.6ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 13.3rpg and 9.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was Richard Bautista (185-PG-1997) of Titanes del Distrito Nacional (#7). Bautista got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds and four assists. He was a key player of Titanes, leading his team to a 94-79 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Soles (#9, 2-14). The chances of Titanes ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 8 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Bautista could help Titanes to bring them higher in the standings. Bautista has a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 3.5apg (7th best).
